ThumaShield

Cover that is already in the booking.

Cover fails people when it is a separate purchase, a separate app and a separate argument. ThumaShield attaches cover at the moment a parcel is booked or a trip starts, priced per consignment, and claimed in the same place.

How claims work
Priced per consignmentPaid by ThumaClaims in-app
Cover at booking — illustrativeExample
Delivery fee$3.50
Goods-in-transit cover$0.25
Declared value covered$120.00
Total at booking$3.75

The cover is its own line at booking, never folded into the delivery price. You always know what it cost and what it covers.

ThumaShield is cover Thuma provides on what it carries. Where a consignment is lost, damaged or stolen while in our care, Thuma pays its declared value up to the limit of the cover bought. There is no third party for you to chase and no separate policy to buy: the cover is a line in the booking, and the claim is against the booking.
Cover

What cover pays for

Goods in transit

Per-parcel or per-consignment cover against loss and damage, attached at booking with the declared value set by the sender.

The value you declare

You set the value at booking and that figure is what is paid, on evidence, up to the limit of the cover. Declaring more does not increase a settlement; declaring less to save on cover means being paid the smaller figure.

Embedded for partners

Other platforms can attach cover to their own bookings through the API, with the cover itemised in their checkout.

Claims

The part that usually goes wrong

Most complaints about cover are not about what it cost — they are about what happens at claim time. The booking record already holds most of what a decision needs, so we use it.

01

Claim in the app

Open the delivery or trip and claim against it. Consignment details, declared value, route and timestamps are already attached — you are not re-typing what we already know.

02

Automated first assessment

Straightforward claims within defined limits are assessed against booking data automatically, which is what makes a same-day answer possible.

03

Referred where it needs a human

Larger or contested claims go to a person, who reads them against the consignment record. You are told it has been referred, and why, rather than watching a status bar.

04

Settled to your wallet

Approved claims pay into your ThumaPay wallet, so the money is usable immediately rather than waiting on a cheque or bank transfer.

How we talk about cover

No fear, no small print games

What we commit to

Show the price of cover as its own line. Say plainly what is covered and what is excluded, before purchase. Show the declared value being covered. Give every claim decision with the reason and the clause it was decided under. Let a refusal be reviewed once, by somebody who did not make the first decision.

What we avoid

Fear-based selling. Jargon that obscures an exclusion. Bundling cover into a price so you cannot see it. Auto-renewing something you did not knowingly buy. Describing cover as something bigger than it is.

Questions

About cover and claims

Thuma does. ThumaShield is cover Thuma provides on what it carries, and an approved claim is paid by Thuma into your wallet. There is no third party for you to chase.
The intention is that goods-in-transit cover attaches by default at booking, with the cost shown as a separate line and the declared value set by the sender. You will always see it before confirming.
Exclusions are stated in plain language before purchase rather than buried. Typical exclusions include items that may not be carried at all, value above what you declared, inadequate packing, and damage from an inherent characteristic of the goods. The ThumaShield Terms govern.
Straightforward claims assessed automatically against booking data are designed to settle same-day into your wallet. Larger or contested claims are read by a person and take longer — we tell you which path yours is on. We aim to decide within five working days and give you the reason either way.
You are told which clause it was refused under, and you may ask for it to be reviewed once by somebody who did not make the first decision. Nothing in the terms limits your right to take the matter to a regulator with authority over it, or to the courts.
